I may or may not go to Burning Man next year, depending on Idul Fitri

Every year at the end of Ramadan, my extended family takes advantage of the 1-week holiday to fly to China, rent a tour bus, fill it with the Salimin clan aged 2 to 80-something, and drive around the country, sampling nomz and sights from multiple cities. It’s become a rather epic tradition.

For the past 6 years I’ve missed this annual excursion because it usually happens in the first couple of weeks of the academic year.. or the week of Burning Man.

According to this Singaporean website:

In 2012, Hari Raya AidilFitri / Idul Fitri / Lebaran is likely to fall on Sunday, 19 August 2012. Please note Muslim festivals are timed according to local sightings of various phases of the moon and thus this Hari Raya date given is approximation.

So, moon and locals, I’m counting on you to get the best of both worlds. It would be pretty sweet to celebrate my birthday with my family for the first time in years, in China no less, then fly in to BRC.

About

20-something / F / Jakarta / SF

I'm planning to spend the next few years working and falling in love with San Francisco. One day, I will own and manage a fabulous boutique hotel in Bali. I like spicy food, raves, logic games, tattoos, and discovering new technologies before they go mainstream.
